“Patchwork Heart” started out as a vision, and ended up as a drawing/painting. It’s sort of half of each, because I drew the heart with a Sharpie, and used watercolor crayons (my favorite way to connect with my inner child: I’d highly recommend buying some) to color in the rest. I’m not sure why I envisioned this piece, but I did, so this is my attempt to execute that vision. Sometimes images come into my head while I’m having a quiet moment, or in the midst of meditation. This was one of them. Honestly, if I could write down everything I see I’d probably be working 24/7!
I guess the heart often gets broken in the midst of existence, and gets “patched” back up, so maybe this is a representation of that concept. At any rate, it’s colorful, and almost “Pop Art” in its color scheme, if more primitive in style. Primitive art is pretty much my style anyway, so it works.
